Apple Crisp Galette

Born out of my craving for an apple pie and an apple crisp... the solution was to combine them into this delicious galette. Also who doesn't feel fancy saying galette? No one. That's who. -- The Creative Outlet

Ingredients - This recipe makes 10 servings
Pie Crust:
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
¼ teaspoon salt
10 tablespoon cold butter
1 large egg yolk, lightly beaten
3-4 tablespoon cold water
Apple Filling:
3 medium sized granny smith apples
3 tablespoons lemon juice (about half a lemon)
⅓ cup sugar
2 tablespoon flour
½ teaspoon cinnamon
Crisp Topping:
¼ cup flour
¼ cup brown sugar
¼ cup old fashioned oats
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
4 tablespoon cold butter
1. Prepare Crust: Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a food processor. Pulse to combine. cut cold butter into cubes and add to food processor, pulse until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. With motor running add egg yolk and 3-4 tablespoons of cold water until the dough comes together to form a ball, wrap dough in plastic wrap and place in fridge to chill for 1 hour.
2. Prepare apple filling: Peel, core and slice apples into ¼ inch slices. Place in large bowl and sprinkle with lemon juice, sugar, flour, and cinnamon, toss to combine making sure every apple slice is coated in the the mixture. Set aside.
3. Prepare crisp topping: Combine flour, brown sugar, oats, cinnamon in bowl. Cut butter into cubes and add to dry ingredients. Using finger tips, rub butter into the dry ingredients so mixture resembles big crumbs.
4. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
5. Assemble: On a floured surface roll pastry dough into a 15 inch circle. Place circle onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Spoon apple filling into center of dough in a pile about 8 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall. Sprinkle crisp topping onto apples. Fold pastry onto apples, pleating as you go, making sure the apples are still visible. Place baking tray in oven, bake for 40-45 minutes, or until edges and bottom are golden. Serve warm or cold and enjoy!
