Rub A Dub-dub

Rubs are a mixture of seasonings pressed onto the surface of meat before it is cooked. Two key components are salt and sugar. You can add other seasonings as desired depending on the meat choice. -- JoJo

Ingredients - This recipe makes 1 jar
4 tablespoon brown sugar
4 tablespoon kosher salt (or table salt or sea salt)
2 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon mustard powder
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 pinch dried oregano
1 pinch dried thyme
½ teaspoon cumin powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 tablespoon onion powder
For Wet rub add:
1 tablespoon lemon/lime juice
1 tablespoon olive oil
1. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl and store in an air tight container.
2. For a wet rub, store in the refrigerator after adding the lemon/lime juice and olive oil.
Tips and Tricks
Rubs can be applied to meats just before cooking, but for a more pronounced flavor, apply your rub and refrigerate for several hours wrapped in plastic wrap.
12 to 24 hours creates a fantastic flavoring.
